JOTES by Jyoti Chand

I’ve only been to India once in my life. My family didn’t have the means to travel abroad the way many of my peers did. My mom, who grew up in Chandigarh, deeply wanted to show us our homeland, and that one visit left a lasting impression on me.

I felt an immediate connection to the people and the culture. The most memorable part of the trip was visiting the Taj Mahal. I was completely enamored by the intricate patterns carved throughout the palace: every detail marked by symmetry, precision, and a quiet kind of grandeur that elevated its beauty.

We don’t have many photos from that trip, but I remember my parents insisting I do a photo shoot with one of the photographers who approach you at the entrance. I went along with it reluctantly, but I’m so grateful I did. Those photos have become incredibly meaningful to me. I don’t have digital copies, only these scanned images you see here, which makes them feel even more special.

When I decided to create this brand, it started from a very real, personal need: nightgowns. Over the years, I’ve become much more intentional about the fabrics I wear, and I wanted 100% cotton pieces to sleep in. But when I searched, my options were limited—I either had to special order from India or spend far more than I wanted to.

I knew I couldn’t be the only one experiencing this.

As women, our bodies are constantly evolving–day to day, season to season. There are times when I can’t wear anything with a waistband, especially around my C-section scar. And as I approach my 40s, the hormonal shifts are very real.

Women move through so much—menstrual cycles, pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause, menopause—and through it all, we deserve to feel deeply comfortable.
